Trump stressed that a resolution could be reached if Iran complies with prior agreements, but warned of severe consequences if it does not.

The United States President, Donald Trump, has issued a fresh warning to Iran, threatening an escalation in military action if the country fails to meet conditions Washington demands to end the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump stressed that a resolution could be reached if Iran complies with prior agreements, but warned of severe consequences if it does not.

“Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran,” Trump wrote.

“If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump’s latest threat comes against the backdrop of the ongoing war between the U.S., Israel, and Iran that began in late February 2026 following joint US-Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets.

The joint airstrikes triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Tehran across the Middle East.

The conflict quickly escalated into a broader regional crisis, with Iran shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, prompting the U.S. to launch military operations and impose a naval blockade aimed at reopening the waterway and restoring global shipping flows.

Despite weeks of intense fighting, both sides agreed to a temporary ceasefire in early April as part of a US-backed proposal mediated by third parties, including Pakistan.

However, the truce has remained fragile, with repeated violations, renewed clashes at sea, and continued restrictions on shipping through the Hormuz corridor.

Central to the US position in ceasefire negotiations are sweeping demands on Iran.

Washington has pushed for Tehran to halt its nuclear enrichment programme, limit its ballistic missile capabilities, stop support for allied armed groups in the region, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international traffic.

In exchange, US proposals have included easing sanctions, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and gradually lifting military restrictions, but only after Iran complies with these conditions.

Recent reports indicate that both sides are now edging toward a potential agreement to formally end the war, with a draft framework reportedly including a temporary halt to hostilities, phased lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, and a broader negotiation process over Iran’s nuclear programme.

However, tensions remain high, with disagreements over key issues, particularly control of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s military posture, that could derail talks and trigger a return to full-scale conflict.

Trump’s latest remarks, threatening intensified bombing if Iran fails to comply, underscore the volatility of the situation and raise fresh fears of a renewed and potentially more devastating phase of the war.
