Dino Melaye Finally Speaks On Obi and Kwankwaso Joining NDC
Former senator Dino Melaye has broken his silence on Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi alliance as well as their recent move to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at the expense of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Dino Melaye, a strong supporter of former vice president Atiku Abubakar who has been canvassing for Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition, took to his X handle to remind Kwankwaso his statement about stepping down for Peter Obi in 2022 ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Dino Melaye shared a video of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso speaking at Chatham House in 2022, vehemently rejecting the idea of stepping down for Peter Obi and serving as his running mate in 2022.
Dino Melaye reminded Kwankwaso how he rejected the proposal, citing his superiority over Peter Obi in politics, public service, and education.
“You should go and look at my credentials, my brother. I am a PhD holder in civil engineering. And check your candidate, what he has. I have been in the system for over 30 years now. I have been civil servant for 17 years. I wasn’t a trader. Civil servant for 17 years. I was deputy speaker of the House of Reps in 1992. I was governor of Kano State for 8 years and so on and so forth. I was in the Senate and so on and so forth. So when we sat down what I told them is what I will tell you: if anybody wants to come and talk about withdrawal, let’s bring criteria and select the best. Anytime I have any better candidate I’m ready to talk to you”, Kwankwaso stated in Chatham House.
While sharing the video of Kwankwaso speaking against stepping down for Peter Obi in 2022, Dino Melaye wrote as caption: “Wetin come change? So what has suddenly changed?”, suggesting that Kwankwaso has backtracked.
He also described Peter Obi as a man who is running away from tough situation, expressing doubt over Obi’s capacity to lead Nigeria. He recounted Peter Obi’s political journey, highlighting that he is fond of abandoning political parties. Melaye added that the NDC where Obi and Kwankwaso have pitched their tent, is an agency of the ruling party.
Peter Obi excused himself from tough situation. If he can not face party tribulations and crisis, how does he intend to handle Nigeria,? Because Nigeria wahala pass ADC problems oooo. He can only operate in an air-conditioned kitchen. Hot kitchens are not for him. He has never gone through primary, APGA gave him free Governorship ticket,Atiku gave him free VP ticket, Labour gave free Presidential ticket. He can not be part of Primary election, reason why he left PDP, reason why he left ADC for another free ticket in NDC. NDC is an agency of APC. Senator Dino Melaye
