‘Power comes from God’ — Borno deputy speaker steps down from senatorial bid for Ndume
Abdullahi Askira, deputy speaker of the Borno state house of assembly, has stepped down from the Borno south senatorial race, clearing the path for Ali Ndume, the senator representing the district.
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the nine LGAs of Borno south had unanimously endorsed Ndume.
They had also collectively raised over N40 million to purchase Ndume’s senatorial nomination form ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement by Bilyaminu Ngulde, media aide to the deputy speaker, Askira said he has formally withdrawn from the race.
