Honorable Orioye Benedict Gbayisemore has formally accepted his emergence as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ilaje Constituency 1, pledging unwavering loyalty to the party and reaffirming his commitment to public service.
In a statement issued on April 30, 2026, Gbayisemore expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State and the party’s leadership caucus for the confidence reposed in him, noting that while his initial aspiration was to serve at the federal level, he remains fully committed to advancing the interests of his people wherever the party assigns him to serve.

RE: ACCEPTANCE OF THE CONSENSUS CANDIDACY FOR ONDO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, ILAJE CONSTITUENCY 1
I, Honorable Orioye Benedict Gbayisemore, humbly address the good people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, my teeming supporters, well-wishers, and the general public on the recent decision of His Excellency, the Governor of Ondo State, and the esteemed leadership caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, to present me as the consensus candidate of our great party for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ilaje Constituency 1.
As is well known, my original aspiration was to represent the good people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives — the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
I remain firmly convinced, and I say this without any shred of doubt, that I possess the capacity, the vision, and the unwavering commitment to deliver quality representation and attract the dividends of democracy to our people at the federal level.
This conviction has not changed, and it never will.
However, I am first and foremost a loyal party man.
The decision of the party, as directed by the wisdom of His Excellency, the Governor, and the leadership caucus, is one that I hold in the highest regard.
I cannot and will not do otherwise than to accept this decision with utmost humility and gratitude. The party has spoken, and its voice is one I have always respected and will continue to honour.
