Trump alleged that elections in the United States are compromised and have become a global embarrassment.
United States president, Donald Trump, has intensified his criticism of the United States electoral system, warning that the country risks losing its future if urgent reforms are not implemented.
In a message shared via his Truth Social media handle, Trump alleged that elections in the United States are compromised and have become a global embarrassment.
“America’s Elections are Rigged, Stolen, and a Laughingstock all over the World. We are either going to fix them, or we won’t have a Country any longer,” he stated.
The president called on members of the Republican Party to unite behind a proposed electoral reform bill he described as essential to safeguarding the nation’s democratic system.
He urged support for what he termed the “Save America Act,” presenting it as a solution to what he claimed are longstanding irregularities in the voting process.
“I am asking all Republicans to fight for the following: Save America Act!” Trump wrote, before outlining key provisions of the proposal.
According to him, the bill would introduce stricter voting requirements, including mandatory voter identification and proof of citizenship for all voters. “All voters must show voter I.D. (identification!). All voters must show proof of citizenship in order to vote,” he said.
Trump also reiterated his opposition to widespread mail-in voting, which has been a contentious issue in recent U.S. elections. “No mail-in ballots (except for illness, disability, military, or travel!),” he added, arguing that such systems are vulnerable to abuse.
Earlier in March, SaharaReporters reported that Trump had issued a warning to lawmakers, stating that he would withhold political endorsements from any politician who votes against the proposed legislation.
In a separate statement shared on his platform, Truth Social, Trump again stressed the importance of the bill, describing it as a defining moment for the country.
“No more rigged elections! The Save America Act is one of the most important & consequential pieces of legislation in the history of Congress, and America itself,” he wrote.
He maintained that the proposed reforms would address key concerns around voter identification, citizenship verification, and mail-in voting practices.
“No more rigged elections! Voter I.D., Proof of Citizenship, No Rigged Mail-In Voting (We are the only Country in the World that allows this!),” Trump stated.
The president also expanded his remarks to include broader political and social issues, suggesting that opposition to the bill would be difficult to justify.
“90% to 99% issues all! Only sick, demented, or deranged people in the House or Senate could vote against THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” he said.
Trump further warned that lawmakers who oppose the bill could face political consequences in future elections.
“If they do, each one of these points, separately, will be used against the user in his/her political campaign for office – A guaranteed loss!” he added.
He concluded by urging Americans to pressure their elected representatives, regardless of party affiliation, to support the legislation.
“I will never (ever!) endorse anyone who votes against ‘Save America!!!’ Get your Senators, Republican or Democrat, to vote ‘YES,’” Trump said.
Observers say the proposal is likely to face significant scrutiny, particularly given ongoing national debates over voting access, election security, and federal versus state control of electoral processes.
