Friends, good morning.

Omolola, my wife, gave me a liberation mantra: “You will always be a villain in someone’s story. Make peace with it.”

It is a leadership superpower.

We live in an age of mass misrepresentation. People you’ve never met have already written your biography — often as antagonist. They have convicted you in courts you never entered, for crimes you never committed.

You are not responsible for the stories people tell themselves to justify their own failures. If you spend your days fact-checking the world’s opinions of you, you will have no days left to fulfill your purpose.

So here is the discipline:
Be grounded in truth, not applause.
Focus on assignment, not approval.
Serve the needy, even those who slander you.
Live excellently, Live in absolute luxury ( The glamour must continue) and let your life answer your critics.

Jesus modeled this. So did Socrates. So must we.

Good Morning, Friends — Thank God today is Monday, April 26, 2026. Omolola, my wife, told me something a few months ago that permanently changed my perspective forever.

Lola said: “No matter how good you are, no matter how great or Christ-like you may be, you will always be a villain in someone else’s story. You cannot control every narrative people carry about you. Whether you like it or not, a lot of people have already decided who you are without ever asking you. A lot of people you’ve never met in your life already carry so much grudge about you and spread lies and negative rumors about you.

A lot of people you’ve never met or interacted with have already formed the opinion that you wronged them and hated you to a fault. You must know this and know peace.

Perception is personal and not factual. People interpret you through their wounds, their own failures, expectations, and personal desires. So if you try to correct every story told about you, you will soon lose your peace and purpose. Your job is not to manage or correct every opinion, story, or narrative about you. When you are grounded in truth, you don’t need to be liked by everyone. You just need to focus on your goals, fulfill your destiny, carry out the assignment God gave you on earth, help the needy, and follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ went about doing good. Spread love and kindness to everyone, including those spreading negativity about you. Meanwhile, continue to live in absolute excellence and allow time and your success to do the explaining.”

History is replete with such examples of cynical, jaundiced, and confused people fighting and voting against their best interests. In psychology, it’s known as “Stockholm Syndrome” — a condition where the victim displays unflinching adoration and loyalty to his captor and tormentor!

For instance, the Jews chose Barabbas the thief over our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and many chose Baal over Yahweh. The Greeks sentenced Socrates and condemned Pythagoras, while the Sophists and other assorted charlatans were honoured and cherished as the harbingers of truth and knowledge. That’s why the Hindus called our times the age of Kali Yuga, where ignorance, political expediencies, and machinations rule the day.

BUT the good news is this: these seasons of discouragement shall pass away. Eventually, and as history has shown, people will become more determined in their efforts to wrest control from the few and share in the wealth of the state. And as they become more enlightened, optimistic, and aware of their fundamental rights to the wealth and resources that the state has been abundantly blessed with, they will not only participate more enthusiastically and passionately in their choice of leaders and rulers, but they will vigorously fight for their God-given rights by committing their hands to labor, learning a trade, becoming the best in that trade, and having the right visions and the ‘know-how’ to bring them what they truly deserve: life, liberty, and the opportunities to be the best they could be!

The Essence:
You were not called to be understood by everyone. You were called to be faithful. In an age where narratives are weaponized and reputations are tried in the court of public opinion, your peace cannot be outsourced to people who’ve never carried your burden.

Leadership is not a popularity contest. It is a purpose assignment. And purpose has enemies: envy, distortion, betrayal, and noise. But none of them can stop a man or woman who is grounded in truth.

The Takeaway:
You are not a PR project. Stop managing perceptions. Start managing purpose.
Misunderstanding is tuition. Every lie told about you is the price of influence. Pay it and keep moving.
Peace is a weapon. When you refuse to be baited into every battle, you disarm your critics. Your life will answer them louder than your lips ever could.

So make peace with being misunderstood. Make war with mediocrity.
Be so excellent they can’t ignore you. Be so kind they can’t cancel you. Be so true that time has no choice but to vindicate you.
