Secure Our Lives or Forget About 2027, Northern Youths Tell Bola Ahmed Tinubu

A northern youth group has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other political leaders that failure to address rising insecurity in the region could cost them public trust and electoral support in the 2027 general elections.

The group, operating under the Arewa platform, expressed growing frustration over the persistent wave of violence across Northern Nigeria, including banditry, kidnappings, and deadly attacks on rural communities. They stressed that the protection of lives and property must become an urgent priority for the current administration.

According to the group, the warning reflects the mood of many citizens in the region who feel increasingly abandoned in the face of escalating security threats. They cautioned that political loyalty can no longer be taken for granted, noting that voters are likely to base their decisions in 2027 on the government’s performance in tackling insecurity.

Across the North-West and parts of the North-Central, communities continue to grapple with frequent attacks by armed groups, leading to loss of lives, displacement, and economic disruption. The situation has heightened public anxiety and intensified calls for decisive and coordinated security interventions.

The youths maintained that beyond promises and policy statements, Nigerians expect visible and measurable improvements in security. They warned that failure to act decisively could trigger widespread voter apathy or outright rejection of incumbents at the polls.

The development adds to mounting pressure on the federal government as insecurity remains one of the most critical challenges facing the country ahead of the next election cycle.
