I will step down for Peter Obi if he emerges as ADC flag bearer — Atiku

Atiku Abubakar has stated during his recent interview with Arise TV that he is willing to step aside for any winner who emerges as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) flag bearer, including Peter Obi, provided the candidate is chosen through a transparent consensus or election process.

The former VP pledged to support whoever wins the ADC presidential nomination for the 2027 general election, regardless of whether he wins the ticket himself.

He noted that the coalition’s first option is to work toward a consensus candidate. If that fails, they will proceed with a direct presidential primary election.

He strongly rejected calls to step down prematurely, insisting that all aspirants, including Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, must subject themselves to the party’s internal democratic process.
