Boko Haram Releases Video of 416 Abducted Victims in Borno, Claims They Are Healthy and Untreated

A faction of Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad, has released a video showing the condition of 416 abducted victims from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The group, led by Imam Abu Umaimatul Muhajjir, displayed mostly women and children (with a few men) and assured the public that the hostages are healthy, well-fed, clothed, and have not been subjected to torture or sexual harassment.

The spokesperson said the video was made at the request of the Borno South Youths Alliance (BOSYA), which has been mediating for their release.

One female victim, speaking on camera, pleaded with President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume and other leaders to intervene and secure their freedom, saying they are restless and worried about their families.

BOSYA confirmed the figure of 416 victims and called on the Nigerian government, international partners and global leaders to support urgent efforts for their safe return.

The group stressed that its mediation does not support terrorism but aims to give a voice to the abducted civilians. The attack on Ngoshe occurred on March 4.
