Bandit kill Abuja based businessman and Daughter despite 12m ransom payment

Bandits have killed an Abuja-based businessman, Muhammad Shuaibu, and his 19-year-old daughter, Fatima Muhammad, despite the family paying a total of N12 million ransom.

The victims were abducted on October 3, 2025, from their residence in Zhidu community, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State. Fatima, a student of the University of Abuja, was reportedly killed three months ago after the kidnappers accused her of being “stubborn.” The bandits later claimed the businessman died in captivity from illness after the final N2 million instalment was paid.

The family said they sold Shuaibu’s shop at Dei-Dei Modern Market, his private car, and a sachet water production machine to raise the ransom. The bandits even demanded they sell their house, but there was no buyer. Efforts to get a response from the Niger State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
