Why I am no longer interested in joining Nigeria’s politics–Davido reveals
Renowned Nigerian hip hop singer, David Adeleke widely known as Davido has revealed that he is no longer interested in joining politics.
The singer had previously revealed that he was considering joining politics to be better placed to serve humanity and Nigerians specifically.
However, the Nigerian born American singer while speaking in a recent Livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel, Davido described venturing into politics as risky to his music career and legacy–the reputation he has built.
He argued that most popular entertainers who went into politics ends up soiling their name– a pattern that has made him change his mind.
He added that politicians see politics as business and dedicate to it.
Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful,” he said.
I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business,” Davido added.
