Troops foil ‘IED attack’, kill suspected terrorists in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled an attempted improvised explosive device (IED) attack and killed suspected terrorists along the Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri road in Borno state.
Citing security sources, Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the incident occurred at about 11:30 pm on Thursday, April 2, when an ambush team along the main supply route spotted suspected terrorists attempting to plant an IED.
Makama said the troops swiftly engaged the terrorists with a rocket-propelled grenade, triggering an explosion that killed them.
The publication added that the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles during a follow-up exploitation of the scene.
It said the troops have sustained heightened surveillance to prevent attacks along the Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri axis.
