Gunmen Ambush Convoy Of Governor’s Aide, Bullet Pierces Windshield

Gunmen launched an attack on the convoy of the Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Mouktar Lugga, along Funtua–Gusau highway, narrowly missing their target.

It was gathered that Lugga was returning to Gusau from an official engagement when the convoy ran into the ambush.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited intelligence sources, the attackers emerged suddenly from both sides of the road and opened heavy fire on the vehicle conveying the governor’s aide, his driver, and two other occupants.
In what appears to be a near-fatal strike, a bullet reportedly pierced through the windshield of the vehicle, narrowly missing the driver.
Another assailant was said to have attempted a close-range shot, but his weapon failed to discharge.
Despite the intensity of the attack, the driver reportedly maintained composure and accelerated out of the ambush zone, successfully escaping the attackers.
All occupants of the vehicle reportedly survived the attack without injuries.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over the worsening security situation in Zamfara State, where banditry, kidnappings, and highway attacks have continued largely unabated despite ongoing military operations.
