In Tough Times, Choose Peace : A New Month Message of Hope and Leadership by Banji Alabi Esq 

Good Morning & Happy New Month again & again to all my family members & friends . It will be a great month for all of us in Jesus’ name.

WARNING
The economy of the world ails critically. There is rampant poverty and hunger among people.

Most of the citizenry have lost their jobs, homes, and dignity. The news of depression and the rate of suicides are rising daily; all these are traceable to poverty facilitated by unemployment.

Times are hard — a lot of people will vent their anger & frustrations on you.

They will call you out, but you must maintain peace. Peace, be still.

Both Christians and Muslims preach peace, and no amount of sacrifice is too much for peace.

Please DO NOT respond to insults from anyone – just walk away.- Let them win the argument, while you win your honor and return home to your loved once – IN ONE PIECE

The Bible enjoins us to “Be at peace with one another” – Mark 9:50. “Be at peace among yourselves” – 1 Thessalonians 5:13. “Live in harmony with one another” – Romans 12:16. “Pursue what makes for peace and for mutual up-building” – Romans 14:19.

The Muslim religion preaches peace: The Quran calls its way “… The ways of peace …” (Quran: 5:16). It describes reconciliation as the best policy (4:128) and states that God abhors any disturbance of peace (2:205). The first verse of the Quran breathes the spirit of peace; it reads: “In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.”

A FOOTBALL LESSON -Argentina versus Netherlands in the penalty kicks (2014 World Cup).

The Argentina goalkeeper_, Martinez, saves two penalties_ that give them an edge in the game. Then an Argentina player, Lautaro Martinez, scores the winning penalty_. All the players rush to congratulate Lautaro for winning them the match.

All but one player_. Lionel Messi; The Captain – The Leader. He realized if it wasn’t for the goalkeeper, they wouldn’t have won. Messi rushes to first celebrate with the goalkeeper.

These were my questions, and I’m asking you too:

1. How many of such goalkeepers do you have in your Team, your life that you have neglected and taken for granted?
2. Are you a leader or a manager?
3. Food for thought – Do we really understand the difference between a manager and a leader?

A manager vs a leader:

– A manager:
– Focuses on tasks, processes, and control
– Gives orders and expects results
– Often prioritizes efficiency and productivity
– A leader:
– Focuses on people, vision, and inspiration
– Motivates and empowers others to achieve
– Prioritizes growth, innovation, and impact

Think of it like this: A manager does things right, a leader does the right thing.

In the football example, Messi (the leader) celebrated with the goalkeeper, recognizing the team’s win wasn’t just about him. A manager might’ve focused on the win itself; a leader celebrated the people behind it.

– Discover: Identify passions, strengths, and problems to solve
– Develop: Invest in skills, stay updated, network
– Commercialize: Create value, monetize skills
– Solve Problems: Offer impactful solutions

Stop looking for jobs that no longer exist. Sharpen skills, solve problems, and smile to the bank.

STOP BEGGING – begging is inferior to your destiny. You have the power to shape how your story will end – “Past is history, future is gold. Write yours.”
