Seriake Dickson names those who made him not to join ADC

The founder and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Henry Dickson has disclosed that he became skeptical about the coalition party-African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to the party’s national leaders.

While speaking on African Independent Television (AIT), Seriake Dickson claimed that the vast majority of those that championed the formation of the ADC also pioneered the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) which defeated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.

He explained that aside David Mark, the national leadership of the ADC is made up of disgruntled ex-members of the APC. According to him, these politicians now in ADC had in their first experimentation with the APC, failed Nigerians.

He however commended them for their courage and decision to maintain the multiparty system of the country by forming the ADC and acknowledging the fact that the APC which they were part of and helped to power, has failed Nigerians.

For example, those leaders in the ADC, a number of them were those who actually formed the APC. They were the ones who led the charge to defeat or remove the PDP.

With the exception of maybe Senator Mack, who is the chairman of the ADC, very respectable Nigerian statesman.

He declared that he is unconvinced of the ideology of the ADC, suggesting that the party lacks a clear vision and agenda for the country other than its serving as a platform for political alignment among politicians.

So I commend all of them for not sticking to it, for moving out. My friend, Nasir El-rufai, Babachar Lawal, all of them,. So all of them who took part in that, they have moved.

That speaks a lot about the failure of the APC that they foistered on Nigeria. It is debatable if-Should they share in that failure? Blames? Well, I mean, there is enough blame to go around, but I mean, politicians must exercise their their right to agree and disagree. The Constitution guarantees freedom of association and also a freedom to disassociate, which is what they have done. But like you were asking, why not ADC? Yes.

I commend the ADC leaders, a number of them interact with, okay? But I saw I’m not too convinced. I’m not convinced of the ideological stand of the ADC beyond a coalition of names and former shiftings of the APC, now disagreeing with their party and the government of their party.

They have disagreed with it, and justifiably so. But if you are congregating, as they did in 2013, 2014, it takes more than a congregation of names to have a government that will have meaning, to have a party that has a clear vision and agenda”.
