Troops repel ISWAP attacks, kill 38 in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled multiple attacks by ISWAP terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Mandaragirau, Sector 2, on Saturday, 28 March 2026, eliminating 38 insurgents.
The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI also provided close air support during the engagement.
Further operations along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes resulted in additional losses for the insurgents, bringing the total number of those neutralized to 38.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the troops responded with a well-coordinated offensive that forced the attackers into a disorganized retreat.
Local sources confirmed that more than 30 additional bodies of terrorists were discovered along the Garin Mallum–Garin Gajere axis leading into the Timbuktu Triangle. Several weapons were also recovered from the area.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operations aimed at restoring peace and security across the North East region.
