Intelligence Report Says Terrorists Planning Fresh Attacks On Three Council Areas In Kwara

Security agencies in Kwara State have been placed on high alert following intelligence indicating that suspected terrorists are planning coordinated attacks on three local government areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District.

The planned attacks are believed to target Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin Local Government Areas of the state, with the suspected terrorists reportedly preparing to strike simultaneously on March 23 and March 28, 2026.

Gistcore gathered that security operatives across the affected areas have been alerted and precautionary measures are currently being intensified to prevent any potential assault on communities within the three local governments.

The alert was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, who urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.

According to the statement, relevant authorities including the Kwara State Police Command, the chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin Local Government Areas, as well as other security agencies, have been formally notified about the looming threat.

The statement read: “In view of the speculative bandits attacks on March 23, 2026 and March 28th, authorities including Kwara State Police Command, Chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin LGAs, and other security agencies have been notified and are taking necessary precautions to protect citizens.

“We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

“Your safety is our priority. Let’s work together to keep our communities safe.

“Stay safe, stay alert.”

Community leaders and local security networks are also said to be working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure early detection of any movement linked to the suspected terrorists.

Residents in the affected local government areas have been advised to avoid panic while remaining alert to unusual movements within their communities as security agencies intensify surveillance operations across the region.

The development comes amid growing concerns over the activities of armed groups and bandits expanding into parts of North Central Nigeria, with several states in the region recently strengthening local security structures to counter potential threats.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official public statement regarding the intelligence report.
Meanwhile, sources say internal security operations have already been activated across the affected areas.
