Security Group Releases Intel Over Imminent Bandits Attack In Taraba, Southern Kaduna, Demands Urgent Action

Asecurity advocacy group has raised the alarm over imminent coordinated attacks in parts of Taraba and Southern Kaduna, warning residents to remain vigilant and calling for immediate intervention by Nigerian security agencies.

The warning was issued by Judd Saul, Executive Director of Equipping the Persecuted, in a video statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

In the video, Saul claimed his organisation had obtained intelligence indicating that armed groups he identified as Fulani ethnic militia were mobilising for large-scale attacks in parts of Taraba State and communities in Southern Kaduna State.

“We have critical information of an upcoming attack in Taraba State and Southern Kaduna,” Saul said. “When I mean imminent attack, what that means is that fighters have been sighted gathering and preparing for major assaults.”

According to him, the alleged attacks in Taraba could occur around March 23 or shortly after the Ramadan period, with fighters reportedly mobilising across key locations.

Saul claimed that armed individuals had been observed moving across the Donga River axis, allegedly embedding themselves within cattle herds while transporting weapons.

“We have seen armed movement across the river, fighters embedded in their cattle herds, drones confirmed, machine guns present,” he said.

He also referenced a recent attack in Tor, Damisa area where five people were reportedly killed, suggesting it could be part of a broader build-up to more coordinated violence.

The group further alleged that certain locations, including areas around farmlands in what he described as a staging zone, were already under the control of the armed groups.

Simultaneously, a high-risk situation is reportedly unfolding in Southern Kaduna. Intelligence suggests that since March 16, there has been a significant gathering of armed groups targeting Chikun, Kajuru, and Kachia Local Government Areas.

The report detailed “large motorcycle convoys” advancing through the Jab Forest, Kamuku Forest, and the Birnin Gwari corridor.

“Attack is imminent. What we are telling everybody is to avoid remote and isolated areas, report suspicious movement to the police and military,” Saul urged.

The report concluded with a sharp critique of the current security response and a plea for the Nigerian government to disrupt the logistics of the encroaching groups.

Saul called for the military and police to “disrupt motorcycle movement immediately” and for local leaders, including pastors and community heads, to put their people on high alert.

“If the Nigerian government is [not] going to protect you, go and protect yourself, evacuate, stand up for your communities. Whatever you feel you have the power to do, do it to protect yourself,” he added.
