Ikare Leaders Kick Against Move to Reinstate Alhaji Abbass Muhammad as Chief Imam

The Owalukare Ruling House, Ikare Muslim Council, Muslim Ummah and other Prominent stakeholders in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo state have strongly opposed a directive seeking to reinstate Alhaji Abbass Muhammad as Chief Imam of the town, describing the move as unlawful and a threat to peace.

The Owalukare Ruling House, Ikare Muslim Council, and Muslim Ummah argue that the directive undermines the authority of the Olukare of Ikare and disregards the community’s established process for appointing religious leaders.

They insist that Alhaji Abbass Muhammad was lawfully removed and that the current Chief Imam, Sheikh Bisiriyu Saliu Temidire, was appointed in 2025 with the backing of the Ikare Muslim Council.

Community leaders warn that imposing leadership on the community could spark resistance and disrupt the peace, emphasizing that the issue goes beyond legality and touches on communal harmony. They urge authorities to withdraw the directive and respect established authority.

The stakeholders stress that only a competent court of law can determine such matters, not administrative fiat, and that the Olukare of Ikare’s authority should be respected.
