Nyesom Wike considering resigning as FCT minister over president Tinubu’s directive

Minister for federal capital territory (FCT) Abuja, Nyesom is reportedly considering quitting his membership to president Bola Tinubu’s cabinet following president’s latest directive to his political appointees nursing political ambition.
President Tinubu on 17th of March, urged political appointees in his government who have political ambition in 2027, to resign on or before 30th of March to pursue their political ambition.
This directives affect ministers, ministers of state, senior special assistants, aides, and Director General and CEOs of federal government agencies and enterprises.
Hence, the source told us that Nyesom Wike is in dilemma over his political future and considering contesting for senate in 2027 to keep his political career standing especially as he is unsure of the direction his relationship with president Tinubu would tilt after the 2027 general elections.
We have been told that he (the FCT minister) is contemplating going to the senate. He wants to remain relevant politically beyond the 2027 general elections. He knows that he will definitely not be the FCT minister in Tinubu’s second term. He does not even know how his relationship with the president will go after the elections”, the source stated.
He added that former governor Nyesom Wike’s dilemma goes beyond his own political career but that of those he is considering backing for Rivers state governorship in 2027 who are political appointees in Tinubu’s government.
According to him, Nyesom Wike considers four persons as alterative to governor Sim Fubara and all the four persons are currently serving in Tinubu’s government.
You know, Alabo Boma Iyaye, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission; Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency; Senator Magnus Abe holds dual roles as a Board Member of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the Director-General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall; Ojukaye Flag-Amachree serves as the Director of Energy Security within the Office of the National Security Adviser–are all being considered by Wike for governorship. So, one of them must resign in line with president Tinubu’s directive”.
