A Nigerian woman has publicly appealed for help after claiming she was abandoned in Owerri, Imo State, following her participation in a political campaign for Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In an emotional video circulating on social media, the woman alleged that she travelled from Lagos to Owerri to campaign for the president under a political mobilization group reportedly linked to Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu. According to her, she and others were promised empowerment items and financial compensation for their efforts but were allegedly left stranded after the campaign activities ended.
Woman Appeals for Help
The woman, visibly distressed in the video, called on Nigerians and Seyi Tinubu to come to her aid, explaining that she currently lacks the funds needed to return to Lagos.
She said:
“Nigerians please help me. I came all the way from Lagos to Owerri to campaign for President Tinubu. We were promised freezers, generators, and money, but I didn’t receive anything. I don’t even have transport fare to go back to Lagos.”
She further alleged that coordinators of the “City Boy Movement,” a political support group associated with Seyi Tinubu during the 2023 election campaigns, failed to fulfill their promises after mobilizing supporters.
Allegations of Abandonment
According to the woman, several individuals were recruited and transported to Owerri with assurances that they would receive empowerment packages and financial rewards for supporting campaign activities.
However, she claimed that after the campaign engagement, some participants were allegedly abandoned without receiving the promised items or transport arrangements back to their homes.
