UK adorns streets with Nigerian flags ahead of Tinubu’s historic State visit
The United Kingdom has decorated streets in Windsor with Nigerian flags as preparations intensify for President Bola Tinubu’s two-day state visit, hosted by King Charles III on March 18–19, 2026.
Viral images and videos shared widely on social media show Nigerian green-white-green flags lining key areas, signaling warm diplomatic hospitality for the first Nigerian presidential state visit to the UK in 37 years
British authorities earlier announced significant security measures, including road closures, parking restrictions starting March 17, and extended airspace restrictions over Windsor Castle on March 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
President Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, will arrive for an official reception at Windsor Castle, marking a milestone in Nigeria-UK relations since the last such visit in 1989.
The flag displays and preparations have generated excitement online, with many Nigerians viewing them as a sign of strengthened bilateral ties and respect for President Tinubu’s leadership.
