President Bola Tinubu has reportedly approved a new security initiative to tackle terror threats in Southwest Nigeria. The announcement was made by Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation activist. According to Igboho, the initiative aims to address the growing insecurity concerns in the region, particularly in Oyo, Kwara, Kogi, and Ekiti States.
Igboho stated that the president has given the green light for the initiative, which is expected to mobilize around 50,000 volunteers. The move is seen as a response to the increasing attacks on farmers and communities in the region, with Igboho urging residents to work together to address the issue.
The initiative has received support from traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the region. However, some groups, like the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement, are calling for Igboho’s removal from the wanted list as part of efforts to tackle insecurity in the region.
