Tiwa Savage Fires Back: “I’m Not Quitting Music Anytime Soon

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has affirmed that she has no intention of stepping away from music anytime soon as she unveiled a new initiative aimed at supporting emerging African creatives in the music industry. Soccer

According to reports gathered by Ireporter Online, the singer made the remark while speaking during the launch of her music foundation, a project designed to provide guidance and opportunities for young talents navigating the complexities of the industry.

Tiwa Savage recalled how a scholarship opportunity at Berklee College of Music played a pivotal role in shaping her career. She explained that the support she received at the time came when she lacked the resources to fully invest in herself, adding that the opportunity ultimately changed the course of her life.

The award-winning singer noted that her experience at the prestigious institution did not only refine her musical abilities but also equipped her with valuable knowledge about the business side of the entertainment industry, including how to transform talent into a sustainable profession.

Tiwa Savage explained that the decision to establish the foundation comes at a mature stage in her career, noting that she now possesses the platform, network, and credibility required to create a meaningful and lasting initiative. According to her, such a combination of influence and experience only comes after years of building trust and establishing one’s name within the industry.

The singer also stated that the initiative reflects a less visible part of her personal journey. She observed that while many people see the performances, collaborations, awards, and public recognition, they often overlook the challenges and uncertainties that marked the early stages of her career. She added that her own experience as a student who relied on a scholarship reinforced the importance of providing opportunities and guidance to talented young Africans who may lack access to the right pathways.

Tiwa Savage further emphasised that success in the entertainment industry requires more than talent alone. She explained that young creatives must also understand key aspects of the business, including contracts, rights, and the true value of their work, stressing that she hopes the foundation will equip upcoming artists with such knowledge from the outset rather than learning through difficult experiences.

Addressing speculation about whether the foundation signals a gradual withdrawal from music, the singer clarified that the initiative is deeply connected to her musical journey. She explained that the platform she has built through her music career is what has made the foundation possible, adding that the project has strengthened her commitment to the craft rather than diminishing it.

According to her, every performance and every new release now carries a deeper meaning, as she sees herself not only as an artist but also as a representative of a new generation of African creatives who are watching closely and drawing inspiration for their own ambitions.
