The lifeless body of Hon. Ibrahim Gajere, former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, has been discovered following a brutal attack by suspected terrorists on a burial convoy in Dogon Noma community, Maro Ward, Kaduna State.
SaharaReporters gathered that the attack took place on Monday, February 16, 2026, targeted a convoy of vehicles returning from a funeral.
Witnesses told The Sun that the assailants burnt the official car of the former chairman along with three other vehicles, leaving passengers stranded and several missing.
Community members launched an immediate search for Gajere and other victims.
However, a source told SaharaReporters that his body was found on Wednesday afternoon in the surrounding bush.
“Hon. Ibrahim Gajere, the immediate past council chairman of Kajuru local government in Kaduna State has been killed by kidnappers,” a local source told SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
Villagers who discovered the body described the scene as heart-wrenching.
“It is painful to inform you that the body of the missing former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government has been found this afternoon,” a source told The Sun.
“Some people have been combing the forest in search of him when they did not hear from the attackers. There were bullet wounds on his body.”
Meanwhile, the attack has plunged Kajuru and neighbouring communities into mourning. Residents fear for their safety after another assault nearby on the same day reportedly left two people dead.
Community leaders are appealing to security agencies to intensify operations in the Kajuru axis to prevent further bloodshed, describing the situation as devastating.
