China-Based Businessman, 2 Angolans Excrete 236 Cocaine Wraps at Kano, Abuja Airports
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a China-based Nigerian businessman and two Angolan nationals who excreted a combined total of 236 wraps of cocaine after being apprehended at airports in Abuja and Kano.
The suspects — Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, 34, and Angolans Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52 — were intercepted on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Ibeanu was arrested while boarding a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China via Abuja and Doha. Acting on intelligence, NDLEA operatives subjected him to a body scan which confirmed ingestion of illicit drugs. He later excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams. In his statement, he said he previously operated a business on Lagos Island before relocating to Guangzhou, China, in 2024.
Similarly, the two Angolan suspects were intercepted at the Kano airport while preparing to travel to Istanbul, Turkey, via Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight. Body scans confirmed they had ingested drugs. Mbandu excreted 76 wraps weighing 920 grams, while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets weighing 1.33 kilograms.
During interrogation, the Angolans, who hail from Luanda, claimed they were recruited by an automobile spare parts dealer who promised to pay them $3,000 each upon successful delivery of the drugs in Turkey.
Convicted Drug Kingpin Foiled from Prison
In a related development, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport thwarted an attempt by a convicted drug kingpin, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine to London.
Oladimeji, currently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre following his 2025 conviction for attempting to export 17.90kg of cocaine, allegedly masterminded the new trafficking scheme from prison using his logistics company, Dimeji Express Logistics.
The cocaine, concealed in processed cassava granules (garri), was intercepted at the Lagos airport export shed on February 12. A staff member of the company, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, who presented the consignment for export, was arrested. Investigations revealed Oladimeji coordinated the operation from behind bars.
More Arrests, Seizures Across States
NDLEA also frustrated an attempt by estate surveyor Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo to export 1.70kg of skunk concealed in jerry cans to the UK. The cargo agent involved and the principal suspect were arrested in Lagos.
In Abuja, officers intercepted a package from Enugu containing a children’s toy guitar used to conceal 59.2 grams of Canadian Loud, a cannabis strain. The owner, Henry Onuma, was arrested at Dream City Estate, Life Camp.
In Lekki, Lagos, NDLEA raided a duplex used as a factory for producing Colorado, a synthetic cannabis variant, recovering 13.2 kilograms of the substance and precursor chemicals. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the operation.
Other major seizures included 105,400 tramadol pills recovered in Kwara State; 563.5 kilograms of skunk seized from a forest camp in Edo State with five suspects arrested; and multiple drug exhibits, cash, and vehicles recovered from a suspected drug dealer in Ibadan.
NDLEA Chairman Commends Officers
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers across various commands for their professionalism.
He urged them to sustain the agency’s balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction, even as the agency continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns in schools and communities nationwide.
