As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its forthcoming congress, Dr. (Engr.) Charles Adedoja Adewumi, a respected party stakeholder and Aspirant for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, has urged party leaders and members across the country to ensure that the process is guided by peace, inclusiveness, and broad acceptability.
Dr. Adedoja Adewumi in a statement released to Newsmen on Sunday evening described the congress as a vital constitutional exercise capable of either strengthening or weakening the party’s internal democracy.
He stressed that the APC must conduct a transparent and fair process that reflects its progressive ideals and strengthens party cohesion.
According to him, the credibility and reputation of the APC as a leading political platform can only be sustained when its internal processes promote justice, equity, and collective ownership among members.
He emphasized that a peaceful and rancour-free congress is essential, noting that unity remains the party’s greatest asset as it positions itself for future electoral contests.
Dr. Adewumi noted that a well-managed congress would restore confidence among party faithful, consolidate the party’s structures at all levels, and project the APC as a mature and responsible political organisation to Nigerians.
He further called on national and state party leaders to demonstrate exemplary leadership by ensuring that no bloc, tendency, or aspirant is sidelined during the process.
According to him, consensus built on fairness and equity fosters lasting loyalty, stability, and internal harmony, while exclusion and imposition often undermine party strength.
In his view, a congress outcome that reflects the collective will of party members will energize the grassroots, deepen trust in party leadership, and position the APC as a model of democratic practice within Nigeria’s political landscape.
Dr. Charles concluded by appealing to delegates, officials, and supporters to place the long-term interest of the APC above personal ambitions, emphasizing that the party’s strength lies in unity of purpose, respect for internal democratic mechanisms, and a sustained commitment to peace.
