Sheikh Gumi Reacts To Saudi Arabia Lifting Ban On Alcohol

Controversial Islamic Nigerian cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has reacted to the report that the United Kingdom of Saudi Arabia quietly eased ban on sales of alcohol to affluencial visitors within specific zones in the country.

The partial easing of alcohol sales in the wealthy Arab nation, came quietly into effect late 2025, allowing wealthy non-muslim foreigners within some specific locations to buy and consume alcohol– this comes at the expense of Saudi Arabian more than 70 year ban on alcohol sales in the country with strick enforcement. With the latest change, the Saudi Arabian leadership aims to attain its vision 2030 of modernizing the Saudi Arabian economy and allowing investors and more tourists to come to the country.

Reacting to the report by DW Hausa on the lifting of alcohol ban by the Saudi Arabia authority, sheikh Ahmad Gumi, notable for his islamism, expressed concern for the Saudi Arabian Islamic teachers.

The controversial Islamic cleric through his Facebook page, called for prayers for Saudi Arabian Islamic scholars due to the controversial quiet easing of ban on alcohol sales in the country– permitting wealthy non-muslims in Saudi Arabian to have access to alcohol in the country.

Sheikh Gumi wrote in Hausa: ” Ku Taya malaman Saudi ya addua”, which is translated: pray for Saudi (Islamic) scholars (teachers).
