Police kill suspected bandit, recover arms, ammunition in Kebbi

Operatives of the Police Special Tactical Squad deployed to Bagudo local government area of Kebbi state Wednesday night killed a suspected bandit and inflicted gunshots wound on another.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Birnin Kebbi, SP Bashir Usman, stated that the squad intercepted an unregistered Boxer motorcycle conveying two suspected armed bandits during a routine patrol.

“Upon interception and during a security check, the suspects opened fire on the operatives and the police team responded in self-defence, leading to the killing of one of them while the others escaped with gunshot injuries. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

“Items recovered during the operation include 586 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, one camouflage uniform, one military-style bag, two mobile phones, cash of N404,500, as well as the unregistered motorcycle used by the suspects,” the statement said.
