American inmate bags fresh 27-month jail term for threatening to kill Trump

Mr Davis was earlier convicted of felony and currently serving a state sentence at the Charlotte Correctional Institute in Punta Gorda, Florida.

A United States Court has sentenced a Florida man, Christopher Davies,to 27 months in a federal prison for threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump.

Mr Davies, 32, of Cape Coral, was handed the sentence by U.S. District Judge Sheri P. Chappell, after pleading guilty to threats against Mr Trump.

The convict pleaded guilty on October 29, 2025, according to a statement by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe on Tuesday.

Court documents showed that Mr Davies wrote a letter to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institution claiming he had “orchestrated the most daring pesidential assassination that this country has ever seen” and declaring that “Donald J. Trump must perish.”

During questioning by agent from the U.S. Secret Service, Mr Davies admitted to writing the letter and explained that he wanted to kill Mr Trump.

Queried on what he would do if Mr Trump was near him, he stated that he would attempt to kill him with his bare hands.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.

Mr Davis was earlier convicted of felony and currently serving a state sentence at the Charlotte Correctional Institute in Punta Gorda, Florida, about 150 miles northwest of Miami.

He is scheduled to be released from the state facility in June 2032, after which he would begin serving his federal sentence.
