Ex-Pension  boss, Maina slumps, lands in Abuja hospital

Former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Dr. Abdulrasheed Maina, slumped on Tuesday evening while attempting to access his office premises in Abuja.

He has since been rushed to a private hospital in the city for urgent medical attention.

The incident was disclosed via a press release issued on Tuesday, 3 February 2026 and signed by his media assistant, Emmanuel Umahi Ekwe, Esq.

The incident, according to the statement, occurred after complications arising from an untreated knee injury which caused Dr. Maina to lose balance while climbing a staircase leading to his office.

He reportedly fell during the incident, hitting his head on the staircase.

Medical personnel present at the scene were said to have promptly administered first aid before he was immediately conveyed to a private medical facility in the Federal Capital Territory, where he is currently receiving close medical care and remains under observation.

The statement further revealed that a preliminary medical assessment conducted by the attending doctors indicated that arrangements for an air ambulance medical evacuation may be considered should his condition fail to stabilise within a short period.

“Dr. Maina is currently receiving close medical care and remains under observation, while his family and medical team are closely monitoring his progress,” the statement said.

It added that his family has appealed to members of the public to show understanding, offer prayers, and respect their privacy at this critical time.

The media assistant said further updates will be communicated as developments unfold.
