DISINFO ALERT: Davido did NOT win ‘Best African Music Performance’ at 2026 Grammys
A viral report claims that David Adeleke, the Afrobeats star better known as Davido, has won his first Grammy Award.
The 2026 Grammy Award ceremony was held on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and was hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah.
Davido, alongside other artistes including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Tyla, and Ugandan stars Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin, were nominated in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category.
The ‘Unavailable’ hitmaker secured the entry with his global hit song ‘With You’ featuring Omah Lay.
A moment before the winner was announced, a Facebook user identified as Godwin Omobare posted a congratulatory message to Davido.
The user claimed Davido has finally won his first Grammy award after missing out five times.
The Facebook post also stated that the 33-year-old is now on par with Wizkid and Burna Boy in terms of Grammy wins.

“A very big congratulations to 001 #Davido for winning his 1st ever Grammy Award this night after 5 attempt nominations,” the post reads.

VERIFICATION
CableCheck, however, discovered that Davido and other Nigerian artistes lost the award to South Africa’s Tyla.
The singer clinched the prestigious award with her song ‘PUSH 2 Start’.
The win made it the second time Tyla clinched the ‘Best African Performance’ category at the Grammys. In 2024, she won the award for her hit single ‘Water’.
