FMC Abuja Breaks Silence, Denies Involvement In Ifunanya Nwangene’s Death
According to Ireporter Online, the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, has firmly denied allegations that medical negligence contributed to the death of fast-rising Nigerian singer, Ifunanya Lucy Nwagene, popularly known as Nanyah.
In a statement released on Sunday, the management of the hospital clarified that the singer passed away on January 31 after developing severe complications linked to a snake bite. The statement, signed by the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Bioku Muftau, explained that Nanyah suffered acute neurotoxic reactions resulting from the bite.
The hospital stated that its medical team attended to the late singer immediately upon her arrival at the facility, stressing that emergency care was promptly administered. According to the statement, treatment included resuscitation efforts, intravenous fluids, oxygen therapy and the administration of anti-snake venom.

The hospital management dismissed circulating reports suggesting delayed response or a lack of anti-snake venom, describing such claims as misleading and inconsistent with the actual events surrounding the case.
The statement conveyed the hospital’s condolences to the family of the deceased artiste and reaffirmed its dedication to ethical medical practice and quality patient care. It also urged the public to seek verified information and avoid relying on unsubstantiated reports on social media, noting that the institution remains open to providing clarification where necessary.
