Air Peace suspends flight operations nationwide over NiMet strike
Air Peace, Nigeria’s flag carrier, says it has signed a bilateral agreement with Emirates, a Dubai-based international airline.
The agreement would enable passengers to travel from Nigeria and other African cities to Dubai, London and other destinations on a single ticket, Air Peace said in a post on social media.
Announcing the development on X on Monday, the airline said the partnership would provide smoother connections from Nigeria and across West and Central Africa, with passengers enjoying through-checked baggage to their final destinations.
The development — which is an expansion of the interline deal signed in 2025 — could address connectivity challenges that often accompany air travel, providing greater comfort to travellers, as Air Peace customers will be able to continue their journey on the Emirates network via Dubai.
Aside from the Nigerian destinations already available, Emirates passengers will be able to travel to Banjul and Dakar via Abidjan on Air Peace’s network.
“We are expanding Africa’s access to the world,” Air Peace wrote.
“Today, we have activated a bilateral agreement with @emirates, unlocking smoother connections from Nigeria and across West & Central Africa to Dubai, London, and beyond, all on a single ticket, with through-checked baggage.”
Adnan Kazim, deputy president and chief commercial officer of Emirates, said the strengthened interline agreement aligns with the airline’s long-term strategy for Africa and reinforces its commitment to the Nigerian market.
“By enhancing our interline partnership with Air Peace, we are expanding our reach across Africa and creating more opportunities for customers to enjoy the Emirates experience, while also supporting inbound tourism into the region through Lagos,” Kazim said.
“We remain focused on working closely with strategic partners to contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s aviation, tourism and trade sectors.”
On his part, Nowel Ngala, chief commercial officer of Air Peace, described the partnership as a significant step towards the airline’s vision of positioning Africa more prominently in the global aviation ecosystem.
“This partnership with Emirates represents a strategic move in our mission to connect Africa more efficiently to the world,” Ngala said.
“By combining our strong regional network with Emirates’ extensive global reach, we are delivering seamless connections, reduced travel times and a more comfortable end-to-end travel experience for our passengers.”
On October 1, 2024, Emirates resumed flight operations to Nigeria — almost two years after the suspension of operation by the airline.
