Kano emirate bans ‘Western-styled’ DJ performances at weddings, social gatherings

Rano Emirate Council in Kano State has a placed a ban on Western- styled DJ music performances at weddings and social gatherings in the emirate.

The Waziri of Rano, Alaramma Kabir Sani stated this at a youth programme organised by the Rano LG Shariah Islamic Council, which took place at the palace of the Emir of Rano.

A statement issued on Saturday by the Rano Zonal Information Officer, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi, said the Waziri emphasised the need for proper upbringing among youths

 

The Waziri maintained that the authorities of the local government area and the Emirate Council, with the endorsement of other security stakeholders are united on the ban given the negative impacts of this kind of music on the moral fabric of society.

The Waziri also lamented the misuse of mobile phones by young people in the society.

District Head of Rano, Adda’u Isah, represented by Balarabe Adda’u Isah Rano, appreciated the Local Shariah Council for the initiative, pledging the full support of the Emirate to any activity aimed at promoting Islamic values in the area.

In his remarks, Rano Local Government Chairman’s Islamic Shari’a Council, Idris Garba Rano, stressed that the lecture would be held across all the 13 district areas of the Council. He charged parents to always take full responsibility for the proper upbringing of their children.
