Alayo Melody Explains Why Omije Ojumi Wasn’t Flown To India For Treatment
Gospel singer Alayo Melody has revealed why plans to fly his late colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, to India for medical treatment were ultimately halted. Newspapers
Speaking on Instagram on Thursday, Melody explained that Akinnaanu’s health had deteriorated to the point that she was too weak to travel. He noted that her visa application had been submitted three times before finally being approved, but by then, her doctors had declared her unfit to fly.
“I appreciate everyone who supported Omije Ojumi during her illness. Prophet Sam Ojo and Prophet Taiwo Ojo were very instrumental, even covering the costs for the visa processing and treatment. Unfortunately, by the time the visa was approved, Omije was too weak to travel,” Melody said.

He also urged prophets to refrain from sharing visions of death on social media. “I want to appeal to prophets to stop posting online about death visions concerning celebrities. If you receive such a vision, please communicate privately. Everyone will pass away one day. May God bless us with long life. We will communicate burial arrangements for Omije soon,” he added.
Akinnaanu passed away on January 12 in Lagos at the age of 46. She was best known for her hit song ‘Omije Ojumi,’ which gained widespread popularity in Nigerian churches. Prior to dedicating herself fully to gospel music, she had a career in banking.
