Armed bandits have released Mr. Lanlege following the payment of an undisclosed ransom, local sources confirmed.

Mr. Lanlege was abducted on Friday, January 9, 2026, when armed bandits struck along the Egbe–Okoloke Road in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to community sources, the victim was on transit for his routine daily activities when he was intercepted by the assailants and forcefully taken away to an unknown location.

His abduction sparked fear among residents and renewed concerns over the persistent insecurity along the busy roadway.

After days of uncertainty and behind-the-scenes negotiations, Mr. Lanlege regained his freedom. Details surrounding the ransom amount and the conditions of his release remain undisclosed.

Residents of the area continue to call on security agencies and government authorities to intensify patrols and restore safety along the Egbe–Okoloke axis, a route increasingly troubled by criminal activities.
