Atiku Abubakar Reveals “The Only Problem With His Health”, Why Goes To Abroad For Medical Checkup
Former vice president and leader of the opposition coalition party, Atiku Abubakar has in a recent interview, confirmed that he does seek medical care in a foreign country.
Atiku Abubakar while responding to a question from the interview concerning his health status amid his political ambition, revealed that has never traveled to a foreign country for a major medical care other than for routine medical checkup.
Atiku Abubakar countered the narrative that his health is frail, recalled how he suffered tendon rupture when he fell on a staircase during political campaign in 2006. The former vice president reminisced how he had sought medical care in Germany after the fall which affected his knee. He explained that he did not suffer any fracture but that his tendon ruptured and was fixed in Germany.
He thereafter pointed that aside his seeking medical care in Germany due to his ruptured tendon, he has not visited any other foreign country for a major medical care. He disclosed that he is ready to provide his medical report should the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demand that all presidential aspirants should submit their medical report to the electoral body.

In his words: ‘I don’t go for any major medical treatment abroad other than the normal medical checkup. The only problem with my health– you will recall in 2006, in an election year, I tripped on a staircase and injured my knee. And then, I went to Germany for treatment. I didn’t have any fracture, just what they called tendon rupture. Then the tendon was brought back to its normal position. That’s the only sickness I have. If the electoral authority says we should produce our medical reports, I am ready to do it”.
The former vice president amid his ambition to become Nigeria’s president, is usually reminded by his critic his rumoured falling health as well as his age. Some of his skeptics have enjoined the former Nigerian vice president to retire from a active politics in order to take care of his health.
