The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is missing or absent from his official duties, describing such reports as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party said President Tinubu remains fully engaged in the affairs of the nation and continues to discharge his constitutional responsibilities, contrary to insinuations made by Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi.
The APC maintained that the President’s schedule, which includes high-level meetings, security briefings, and international engagements, is guided by the demands of governance and not by public speculation. According to the party, temporary private or working visits outside the country do not in any way amount to abdication of office.
The Lagos APC further accused Obi of deliberately promoting narratives aimed at creating unnecessary anxiety among Nigerians. It stressed that leadership at the federal level is not measured by constant physical presence in one location but by the quality of decisions, coordination, and oversight being carried out by the President.
“The President is actively in charge of the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. There is no vacuum in leadership, and there has never been any,” the party stated.
The party urged Nigerians to ignore what it described as politically motivated distractions and instead focus on the ongoing efforts of the Tinubu administration to address economic reforms, security challenges, and national development.
It also called on opposition figures to act responsibly in their public statements, noting that spreading unverified information about the President’s whereabouts could undermine public confidence and national stability.
The Lagos APC reaffirmed its full confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, saying he remains firmly committed to steering Nigeria through its current challenges and toward sustainable growth
