Rivers Lawmakers Apologize to Tinubu Makes U-turn on Impeachment drama

Lawmakers in Rivers State have formally apologized to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over their earlier impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The apology was made in recognition of the President’s role in promoting peace and reconciliation amid the political crisis in the state.

The lawmakers, who are reportedly loyal to former Rivers State Governor and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, admitted that the impeachment move deepened tension. They praised President Tinubu for stepping in to calm the situation and prevent a total breakdown of governance in Rivers State.

In a fresh twist, the lawmakers also appealed for reconciliation and unity within the political family. They specifically requested the restoration of their return tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections, signaling a desire to remain politically relevant and aligned with the center.
