Jonny Evans returns to Man Utd coaching staff just 30 DAYS after leaving role under Ruben Amorim
JONNY EVANS will return to Manchester United to help assist caretaker manager Darren Fletcher.
Fletcher will take charge of United in their away trip to Burnley tomorrow night following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

But he will not be alone with former United defender Evans to join him.
The Northern Irishman had been Head of Loans and Pathways at United while Amorim was in charge – before he left just 30 days ago.
Evans came through the United academy and spent nine seasons signed to the club before leaving in 2015 for West Brom.
But after a five years stint with Leicester after the Baggies, Evans returned to United in 2023 amid a defensive injury crisis.
He spent two seasons back at Old Trafford before retiring in 2025 with 241 appearances for the club – where he won three Premier League titles.
Three of those were alongside Fletcher – who also spent two seasons playing with Evans at West Brom.
The Scottish midfielder retired in 2019 at Stoke and moved into coaching in 2020 in United’s academy set up.
Fletcher, 41, had been United’s Under 18’s manager until Amorim’s departure.
The Portuguese boss has been involved in a war of words with the club hierarchy in recent days, hitting out at transfer policy and his postition as ‘coach’ rather than ‘manager’.
Now he is gone – with the likes of Gareth Southgate and Enzo Maresca among the favourites to take over at Old Trafford.
Man Utd currently sit sixth in the table but Amorim hardly set the world alight at the club.
In fact, he leaves with the WORST win rate in the Premier League of any permanent boss – just 31.9 per cent.
United’s recruitment process is underway with the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to return until the end of the season.
Enzo Maresca – who walked out on Chelsea on New Year’s Day – and Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner are early frontrunners to succeed Amorim full-time.
Evans meanwhile left his role overseeing loans in December to spend more time with his family.
He was spotted on a family holiday with Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick in the Caribbean after Christmas.
