Wike urges states to copy Rivers’ ‘Rainbow Coalition’ for Tinubu’s 2027 victory
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on other states to replicate Rivers State’s unique “Rainbow Coalition” model to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Speaking during a thank-you visit to Ahoada West Local Government Area in southern Rivers State, Wike declared no other state matches Rivers’ broad-based, cross-party alliance that transcends traditional party lines. He positioned the state’s politics as a blueprint for unity ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Rivers State has consistently demonstrated an uncommon capacity to mobilise support across political divides,” Wike said, adding that local politics now hinges on “collective unity and shared purpose.”
“As of now, this is the only State where politics is not about parties but about the Renewed Hope Family. Other States should also adopt this level of organic unity and inclusiveness towards total victory for the President in 2027,” he stated.
Wike attributed Rivers’ political resilience to a tradition of cooperation amid pressures to destabilize it. He expressed confidence that stakeholders would soon align on a single platform, warning against complacency and past errors in negotiations.
“We had agreements in the past, people emerged, and we all saw the challenges that followed. We will not make those mistakes again. Politics requires firmness, clarity and the courage not to go backwards,” he assured supporters.
Dismissing opposition relevance, Wike praised Rivers residents for backing Tinubu when national doubts loomed, calling it an act of faith. He linked his FCT role to the state’s contributions, pointing to Abuja’s visible projects as evidence of Rivers’ diligence.
“This is the time for everyone to come together and do what is right. Where governance is working, encourage it,” he urged Nigerians, emphasizing performance over entitlement.
Earlier, Ahoada West Executive Chairman, Hon. Chita Eugene Epelle, hailed Wike’s visit as a “moment of pride and renewal.”
“Despite your busy schedule, you found time to visit Ahoada West, and for this we are deeply grateful. Today, we receive you as our leader, our hero and a proud son of Ahoada West,” Epelle said.
Epelle, speaking for traditional rulers, community leaders, party stakeholders, youths, and women, reaffirmed unwavering support for Wike, praying for his health and wisdom in national service.
