Fear Grips Wike’s Camp As Ijaw Youth Council Endorses Fubara For Re-election

The Ijaw Youth Council has thrown its weight behind Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, endorsing him for a second term.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Council’s President, Theophilus Alaye, said the endorsement was reached after wide-ranging consultations across the Ijaw nation and a careful assessment of the state’s political trajectory and development agenda.

Recall that after more than a year of political confrontation with Wike over party structures in Rivers State, the governor formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress on December 9, a development widely seen as a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defection followed shortly after several prominent members of the Rivers State House of Assembly also moved to the APC.
