The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Adejide, has said that his faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will support President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

Adejide disclosed this on Friday while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

He said the circumstances surrounding the 2023 general elections no longer exist.

“Our faction of the party will vote for President Tinubu in 2027. We may vote for senators, House of Representatives members, state assembly members and governors from other parties, but for the presidency, we will vote for President Tinubu,” he stated.

Adejide accused the ADC of lacking a viable structure, arguing that no political party without a strong structure could win the presidency.

He also blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognising the national leadership led by Senator David Mark, and faulted Peter Obi for registering with the party in Enugu instead of Anambra State, his state of origin.

According to him, Christians in northern Nigeria had feared marginalisation during the last elections but have since realised that President Tinubu is not an extremist.

He cited the crash in food prices, increased funds available to governors following the removal of fuel subsidy, and the prompt payment of civil servants’ salaries as reasons President Tinubu would win the 2027 election.

When asked if he would consider joining the APC, Adejide said he might defect if the crisis in the ADC persists, expressing fears that even if he wins re-election on the ADC platform in 2027, the courts could overturn his victory due to the party’s internal crisis.
