“This Is Hypocrisy”: Air Peace CEO Slams Govt Over New Taxes After Fuel Subsidy Removal

…… Blasts ‘Tax the Rich’ Policy, Says Nigerians Will Pay Through Higher Prices
New Taxes Not Reform but Wickedness, Says Air Peace CEO…..

Air Peace Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, has warned that Nigeria’s domestic aviation industry is facing a looming crisis as newly introduced tax laws threaten to push airfares beyond N1m and force airlines out of business.

You removed fuel subsidy and told Nigerians to endure because things would get better. Now, instead of relief, you are introducing more taxes and calling it “taxing the rich.” That is hypocrisy.
When you tax companies and big businesses heavily, do you think they will carry the burden alone? No. They will transfer it to the people through higher prices of goods and services. The so-called “rich” will survive, but the poor man will suffer more. Inflation will rise, cost of living will worsen, and ordinary Nigerians will pay the real price.
This is not reform; this is wickedness dressed as policy.
If the government truly wants to help the people, it should cut the cost of governance, block leakages, reduce waste, and stop living large at the expense of citizens — not punish the same people already struggling to survive.
Let us wait till 2026. Nigerians have not even begun to feel the real suffering yet. What is coming will be heavier if this path continues.
