……There could be chaos and confusion in the air…….
Today, the APC National Working Committee has endorsed Fubara for a second term.
This is ostensibly reported to be against the agreement reached before Gov Fubara was reinstated.
The agreement was solid and clear according to Minister Wike: “no second term for Fubara, no local government control, and peace will return.”
According to anonymous trustworthy presidential insiders, Fubara was warned by vested interests to forgo any plans to seek a second term in 2027.
Remember that Wike was allowed to nominate all the local government chairpersons across the 23 LGAs of the state, and thus all the LGAs are firmly under his control while Fubara has none
But Fubara has refused to fold his arms. He has begun national consultations with those whom he believes have the ears of the President, and two of those men are the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Senator Umahi.
Ribadu and Tinubu have been together for decades, and it’s believed that the President listens to him.
Additionally, Senator Umahi was the first governor to decamp to the APC in the South East, and he’s trusted by the President’s kitchen cabinet because, amidst the backlashes, his praise for the President has remained sonorous.
Will Fubara set himself free this time? Only time will tell.
