Daga: Flying Eagles midfielder in alleged sexual mess

After having a consensual sex with a lady, Flying Eagles midfielder, Daniel Daga has been set up and charged with sexual assault in Norway, as confirmed by club Molde FK in a statement on Friday evening.

Daga, who is 18 years old, insisted that he did not commit any offence has been suspended from training and match actvities while the matter is being handled legally.

Molde stated that Daga had confidently cooperated fully with the police, attended all interrogations during the investigation, before returning to Nigeria, but he is expected back in Norway ahead of the court hearings scheduled for March 2026 at the Nordmore and Romsdal District Court.

“This is a serious matter, and we take the charges very seriously,” Molde chairman Odd Ivar Moen said.

“These types of cases are extremely demanding for everyone involved.”

Molde also confirmed it has been in contact with the complainant’s legal representatives to acknowledge the emotional and personal burden associated with the case.

Legal aid lawyer Anette Western Torgersen, representing the complainant, declined to discuss details, stating only that the matter represents “a great burden for the victim.”

Daga’s legal team has strongly denied wrongdoing. His lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, said the midfielder acknowledges a sexual encounter occurred but insists it was consensual.

“My client does not plead guilty and believes he has done nothing illegal,” Bolstad said.

“There is no suspicion of violence or threats. He looks forward to having the case heard in court so he can clear his name.”

Bolstad added that Daga has been deeply affected by the charge and was surprised that formal prosecution followed the investigation.

The teenager joined Molde ahead of the 2025 season and made 17 appearances in all competitions, featuring prominently in midfield during his debut campaign in Norwegian football.

As the legal process unfolds, Molde emphasized its intention to act responsibly and ensure fairness and respect for all parties involved.
