Kenya plans return of $900m Abacha funds to Nigeria, cites governance concerns

Kenya has announced plans to repatriate about $900 million allegedly linked to the Abacha loot, nearly four decades after the funds were said to have been moved abroad.

Kenyan officials said the money is intended for the Nigerian people but indicated it would not be released under the current Nigerian administration, which they described as lacking the capacity to manage the funds responsibly.

“We are committed to returning the money to Nigerians, but not under an administration we believe cannot safeguard its proper use,” a Kenyan government source reportedly said.
