Tell Him To Perish The Thought; You’re Not Going To Become IGP -Omoyele Sowore Tells Jimoh Moshood
Nigerian activist and candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the 2023 presidential election, Omoyele Sowore has criticized Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood, over his alleged ambition to become the next Inspector General of Police.
This was revealed in a video clip aired by SYMFONI TV and widely circulated online on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Sowore made the statement while addressing the unresolved Oworonshoki case, accusing Moshood of attempting to use political loyalty to gain promotion within the police hierarchy. He claimed Moshood was trying to win favor with President Bola Tinubu and the current IGP in hopes of being appointed as the next police chief.
In the video, Sowore dismissed Moshood’s alleged aspirations, saying he should abandon the idea entirely. He warned that no amount of flattery or political maneuvering would secure him the position, especially while serious issues like the Oworonshoki case remain unresolved.
He said,
“The Oworoshoki case is not over. Don’t let anybody deceive Jimoh Moshood, who is the current Commissioner of Police in Lagos—who, by the way, is plotting to become my IGP. Tell him to perish the thought; you’re not going to become IGP. If you like, you can hit your head on the floor to impress Tinubu and the current IGP, who promised you that you will become IGP. He’s just deceiving you.”
