Governor Gift visually impaired singer 100M for studio, house support
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has announced major support for visually impaired gospel singer Chris Vic. The package includes a plot of land in Uyo, a four-bedroom house and a ₦100 million music studio.
The governor also said Chris Vic will receive a ₦1 million monthly allowance for as long as he remains in office.
Governor Eno shared the announcement on his X account on Sunday, saying the gesture is part of his commitment to supporting people living with disabilities.
He said the land will be allocated immediately and the certificate of occupancy will be signed next week. He added that the ₦100 million studio is separate from the cost of the land and the new house.
Chris Vic, whose full name is Christian Victor Eshiet, is a 22-year-old singer from Eket. He became popular after his performances on Season 4 of the De9jaSpirit Talent Hunt, where he impressed viewers with his gospel medleys and energetic dance steps despite his visual impairment.
His performances went viral online, gathering millions of views on TikTok and Facebook. He finished as the second runner-up in the talent show last month and won ₦3 million.
Governor Eno said Chris Vic’s story is a reminder that hope still exists, and he wants all people with disabilities to know that the government cares about them.
